BERNINI S.p.a. is one the leader company operating in the branch of furniture production (industrialized and custom-made products). It’s one of the few companies in museum area which owns a catalogue of display products for the exhibition: this represents a very important factor in terms of offer oriented both to Public Authorities (Boards for Cultural Heritage and Local/Regional Councils) and to privates (Foundations and Companies) in charge of preserving and displaying works of art and cultural products.
In fact the mass produced items, in comparison with the custom-made ones, can plausibly better guarantee the test of all the finishing components and the technological parts (internal fibre-optic lighting, dehumidification of the microclimate inside the display, mechanisms of opening and maintenance). These elements have already been tested in laboratory and improved through the different displaying occasions. The planning experiences gathered through the years have brought the company to the realization of a museum atelier – The Bernini Museum Workshop – inside their productive structures.
The atelier is aimed at two main purposes: on one side, the will to offer technical assistance oriented to the executive development of new products, currently not on catalogue; on the other side, the presence of a technical office stylistically independent, self-sufficient and free to move along the market, being present in the world of contract.
The atelier avails itself of external designers, who operate as consultants; they either ensure an essentially planning offer in order to conceive architectonical spaces, exhibition paths and illuminating engineering solutions; and as well they operate in order to create cooperations with other architectural offices not structured and specialized in museographical tecniques. |
